Jesse — Cohasset Senior Photographer

I was a cheerleader in high school. Back then, cheerleading tread a fine line between “sport” and “best way to get on the bus with cute boys in football pants.” Yes, we did a few jumps and kicks and an occasional lopsided pyramid, but mostly it was just a bunch of yelling and flipping of our Farrah-like hair. I think the only reasons I was on the squad were because I had a terminal case of the LOUDS and I could run the entire lap that was required by our chain-smoking coach. Yes, one lap. ONE. One lap, some rhyming of ball/all, mean/green, white/fight, a chunk of Bubble Yum, and that was practice.

These days, you have to be a top-level gymnast/contortionist/humanitarian to be a cheerleader, and I’m guessing you have to be the highest level of AWESOME to be the Captain of the Cheerleaders. That’s Jesse. She’s just about as happy a person as I’ve ever met, and when we met up a few weeks ago to take her Senior Photos, she had me laughing from the moment she got there. We had the entire beach to ourselves, and while I didn’t feel that it would be fair to compare our LOUDS (I would surely win), I did get her to demonstrate just how amazing she really is. Just look at that smile. It’s the definition of Cheer!
