Last winter, Amy and Andy entered a contest I ran offering an engagement shoot to a random couple. All they had to do was send me the story of how they got engaged, and through a highly scientific process, I would choose a winner. My trusty assistant pulled a name from a hat, and these two came out on top. I couldn’t be happier.
We did their shoot exactly one year from the date they got engaged; a moment that almost didn’t happen. As Andy got on his knee in the Boston Public Garden to propose, Amy was chatting up a homeless man and rummaging for change in her purse. That summons up the spirit of both of these amazing people — I had so much fun with them, and it’s clear that they are connected to each other head, heart, and soul. Plus, they laugh all the time and drink Dark & Stormys, so, you know, POW!
We started out in the unbelievably well-tended garden of a friend of Andy’s. Dinnerplate Dahlias the size of my head. The light was perfect. Settle in, this is a long one.
Amy and Andy are getting married in Saratoga, NY, so Amy donned this fabulous hat as a nod to Saratoga culture:
We headed out to the Nobska Point lighthouse to shoot by the water and catch the last of the light…
Andy just took the bar exam a few weeks ago. I imagine he would not have been this relaxed had we shot prior to that…
Thank you both for a wonderful evening, I am happy to call you friends. It’s sure to be a gorgeous wedding!
